NOAA Big Data Project

Maia Hansen and Alan Steremberg (PIF Round 3) worked with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to launch a 3-year Cooperative Research and Development Agreement with Amazon Web Services, Google, IBM, Microsoft Azure, and the Open Commons Consortium at the University of Chicago, in which these major Infrastructure as a Service providers will make NOAA data available to the public at no net cost to the government, with the goal of enabling private sector innovation and economic growth by leveraging the value of government open data.
